Our why
People often ask why we're opening Kiwitahi Playhouse.
The truth is, it started long before there were building plans or construction fences.
It started through years of working in early childhood education, becoming a parent myself, and asking one simple question:
"If I could create the kind of place I truly believe children deserve, what would it look like?"
For me, it was never about building another childcare centre.
It was about creating a place where childhood is valued.
Where children are encouraged to climb trees, splash in puddles, ask questions, get messy and discover the world around them.
A place where learning happens through real experiences.
Where relationships come before routines.
Where every child is known.
Where families feel like they belong.
As a parent, I also understood how busy life can become. I know the pressure of juggling work, school, preschool and everything else that fills our days.
I wanted Kiwitahi Playhouse to support families, not add to their load.
Being alongside Kiwitahi School also gives children the opportunity to become familiar with the place they'll one day attend. They can grow in confidence as they recognise the environment and become part of the wider community around them.
That's the vision behind Kiwitahi Playhouse.
A place built with children in mind.
A place built with families in mind.
A place where childhood is protected, celebrated and enjoyed.
